October 2026 Product Update
FutureState announces many exciting new releases this month, including Access Automation, a new design system applied to CardPulse, new integrations with ServiceNow and Workday, Google Wallet enhancements that send card art directly to HID, new visibility into background activity in CardPulse and iPhone Duo support in the FutureState Mobile Access App.
Access Automation
Access Automation assigns access levels in a campus access control system based on the people data the institution already has. When someone no longer qualifies, the levels their access rules assigned are removed.
Administrators build access groups based on class rosters, housing assignments, employment designations and more. Those access groups are then automatically assigned access levels from every connected access control system, and people lose that access automatically when they are no longer part of the access group. Access group data comes from systems of authority such as housing, event management, HR or course management systems.
Each access group has its own rules. Teams can preview what a rule would do before turning it on, require approval and hold large changes for review. Access that staff assign by hand stays in place. Each person’s record in CardPulse shows the levels they should hold and the levels assigned to them.
Try it yourself: change a student’s record and watch the access follow
“The dream of Access for FutureState is to automate everything. … Instead of trying to solve the one problem of access, we’re solving the entire concept of how to act on population data.”

A New Look
We have started rolling out a new FutureState design system across our web and mobile apps. CardPulse is the first web app to move to it. Featured above is the brand new CardPulse home page, where you can view the high-level details of your credential environment before diving deeper into your work.
This new design is meant to blend modern SaaS with human fonts, and to move away from sterile hard whites to off-whites and creams. All FutureState apps follow dynamic appearances that change with the time of day, from light to dark to midnight. Each colorway has been carefully considered to ensure consistency while keeping the accent colors and customization that make these apps feel like part of our customers’ organizations.
ServiceNow Integration
FutureState is now integrated with ServiceNow. FutureState creates and updates users and writes each person’s credentials and photo to ServiceNow automatically. Credential history is kept, and CardPulse shows what ServiceNow holds so teams can confirm every credential arrived.
This integration enables use cases like a student tapping their credential at an IT support station and having their identifying information filled in automatically, without anyone looking them up. This is just the beginning of this integration. In the coming weeks, the integration is planned to expand to workflows within ServiceNow that connect to our access integrations, so access assignments and approval routing can happen directly in the ServiceNow environment.
Workday Integration
FutureState is now integrated with Workday. The integration imports people information and changes in near real time, and writes each credential and photo event back to the person’s Workday record automatically.
CardPulse shows what a person’s Workday record looks like from a credential perspective in real time, without ever opening Workday. Just like all of our integrations, you can see every layer of each event to proactively address issues when they arise.
Google Wallet Card Art with HID
Credential Studio in CardPulse now designs Google Wallet card art and sends it to HID directly. Teams can preview the pass artwork as it would be shown in Google Wallet on a phone and watch, then assign it to a population. Once they are happy with the result, they can simply activate the artwork template and send it directly to HID.
The FutureState Mobile Access App has also been updated to dynamically show the card artwork each individual will provision, instead of general artwork covering the broad user base.
Background Activity in CardPulse
Long-running work in CardPulse used to take over the screen. Now imports, replays and sends run in the background and show as a small tile in the bottom right corner.
Click the tile from any screen to see data move through each system in real time. When the work finishes, the result stays in the notification bell.
iPhone Duo Support in FutureState Mobile Access App
The FutureState Mobile Access App now supports iPhone Duo. When the phone is open, the credential and the devices list sit side by side, and “Manage” opens next to the device you tap. The app also moves to the new FutureState design system, with a new icon and refreshed sign-in screens.
